Cebu Chronicles (Eto Totoo)

March 26, 2007 at 9:40 am (PresentTense)

Now what was I doing in Mactan, Cebu aside from tripping and having that scene included in an inquirer.net blog? Well, let’s just say that the whole point of the Cebu trip was the RAN Online Global Conference (hence the corporate clothes & high heeled shoes in a sand setting) and that I was GAME Magazine’s official correspondent.

While sadly, I didn’t get the R&R that I have to admit I was looking forward to, it was great geeking out and getting a world-exclusive preview of something I’d like to call RAN Lite. Event and conference details as well as notes of the new game will be available in GAME Magazine’s next issue so make sure you buy that.

Now here’s the review of the resort. I also had my fortune told (hehe) on the second day in Cebu. I’ll be posting about that tomorrow since I’m also rushing my articles all of which are due today and ehem, my actual work.

So here are some pictures instead of the resort and no, I won’t be posting any pictures of me in my swimsuit to avoid massive seppuku or to just not simply gross people out. But going back to the main topic, if asked to describe Plantation Bay in one word, for me it’s just simply “beautiful”.

It’s very obvious that a lot of hard work went into making it a luxurious haven for their visitors. Imagine, even at 2AM in the morning, a staff would go to wherever you are with warm fluffy towels after you swim, bring you coffee or coke if you’re too drunk to swim AND fetch you with a roving jeep to take you to your room when you’re tired of walking or you’re too drunk to make it back. Am I going somewhere with the too drunk cases? Hahaha! And the Cebuanos are so nice. They’re all so smiley-faced and polite, plus their tone of voice is so malambing almost beating out the Illongos who IMHO are the romantics of the Philippines.

So okay, back to the resort. Unfortunately, most of the pictures I’ll be posting will be slightly dark because of the Conference thingie took a LOT of time. We barely had enough time to explore Plantation Bay but its okay because media people and guests were all treated to a free massage/spa! Now that’s what I call my extended 7 minutes in heaven. Teehee.   Read the rest of this entry »

Cebu Chronicles

March 23, 2007 at 1:18 pm (Gaming, PresentTense, YouTube Favorites)

What’ s worse than wearing high heeled stilettos while walking in the sand and tripping? Having that moment captured in film (videocam) by Hackenslash’s Joey Alarilla and him making a blog post about it in Inquirer’s blogs. T_T

Well actually, its not that bad now that I think about it, I mean, who cares if the whole free world can see a video of me tripping and dropping a utterly blond line like, “Do not wear stilettos while walking on the beach.” It’s actually a pretty funny moment in hindsight and the video was more about me showing off Plantation Bay than the “trip-up”.

And yes, Cebu’s AMAZING! Plantation Bay is huge, 3 days is not enough to explore the whole resort.  And take note, its completely man-made. So you really have got to hand it to the people running this place, there’s a roving jeepney to take you to different locations, there’s tons of pools to swim in and activities and relaxation spots. Anyway, more on this resort in my next post, have to get back to work! I’ll be blogging more about RAN Online’s Global Conference in my next post. And yeah, this beach outing is definitely all about work.

Check out my funny video about Plantation Bay and yup, it’s also up in Youtube. http://www.inquirerbloggers.net/atplay/2007/03/22/instant-tv-is-gonna-get-you/#more-108

7 Minutes in Heaven

March 21, 2007 at 6:03 pm (Music, PresentTense)

I don’t have an ipod. But since my cellphone is a Sony Walkman series, it can store a ton of songs. I tend to have all the new stuff because I like overhauling my music every now and then and keep only a handful of favorites. My bestfriend, Gus could only shake his head last evening as we had dinner in Recipes at the songs I’ve been obsessing over lately. It’s actually pretty funny how I love emo/alternative/rock songs so much and how he bugs me to get a copy of Dreamgirl’s soundtracks for him. Teehee. ^_^

Right now, I’m enjoying Fall out Boy and My Chemical Romance. I’m Not Okay (I Promise), This Is How I Disappear, The End, 7 Minutes In Heaven, My Heart Is A Dangerous Weapon and This Ain’t A Scene Its An Arms Race are some of my favorites tracks to play.

Here’s the lyrics to 7 Minutes in Heaven by Fall out Boy. I’m leaving for Cebu tomorrow, why do I feel like its the perfect song for me by then?

I’m sleeping my way out of this one
With anyone who will lie down
I’ll be stuck fixated on one star
When the world is crashing down

I keep telling myself
I keep telling myself
I’m not the desperate type
But you’ve got me looking in through blinds

I’m sitting out dances on the wall
Trying to forget everything that isn’t you
I’m not going home alone
Cause I don’t do too well on my own

The only thing worse than not knowing
Is you thinking that I don’t know
I’m having another episode
I just need a stronger dose

Something to Rave About!

March 20, 2007 at 10:24 am (Gaming, PresentTense)

Where do I begin this post– the Sunday baptism where I finally met my cutest (and only) inaanak Aston? Or the surprise call I got from GAME Magazine’s editor in chief, Howard Paw? Whatever, let me just rave now, I AM GOING TO FREAKIN’ CEBU AND MY INAANAK IS MUCHO MUCHO KAWAII! Okay, I’m gonna calm down a little bit and write all about what happened.

Now this is a face anybody would go gaga over and no, I’m not talking about me, I’m talking about the kid in my arms, Aston Reece Sin. He’s 5 months old and weighs ten pounds, my right arm lost all the blood in it after carrying him for like 15 minutes! You see, my college barkada Rosell invited me to be her son’s ninang in his baptism last Sunday. I was shocked! I’ve never been a ninang in my entire life, I’m the eldest in both my mother and father’s side of the family so I’m expected to be the first one to get saddled down with a family. But since I’m not particularly interested in conjugal activities, my parents would have to wait a long, long time for a grandkid to spoil. But having godchildren is actually fun minus the fact that you shell out a lot of money to buy expensive baby toys. But the plus to having godkids is that you have a cute baby to spoil and pamper and shower with your love AND you didn’t have to go through the ordeal of pregnancy. Hooray for godchildren!

Now here’s my second rave, I am going on an all expense paid trip to Cebu for the Ran Online Global Conference! While I bet most of the people there would be more goofy-looking than cute, I am extremely happy ecstatic over this rather sudden and amazing development. And yes, its a gathering of geeks– I’m hoping to find anime kindred spirits there but if not, I can be just as happy going to Cebu for the first time without having to spend a penny! I’ll just make sure I can write the best article ever and make sure to ask real gaming related questions since yeah, I am the official RAN Online writer for GAME Magazine– only the country’s best online gaming magazine! Booyah!

The Beauty of It All

March 14, 2007 at 11:02 am (PresentTense)

This morning, I was able to read a spammed comment just as everything was about to be deleted. Apparently, the email address left was fake so it went straight to Akismet spam. The comment is not verbatim since I had like 2 seconds to read before the spam comments were erased but according to A@*****.com, “Masyado ka naman ata feeling maganda you’re not ugly but you’re not that pretty”.

Well, thank you for the comment. I’m glad you didn’t find me butt-ugly and that’s good enough for me. ^_^ I guess the feeling maganda comment was either placed because I complained about Creepy-Stalker-Guy or it could be for the post about my belief that I’ve never looked and felt better about myself than I do today or maybe it was even in the page about my profile when I said my pictures were misleading– but as my friend, Jay who is the lord and master of The Couch said and I quote, ehem, paste actually:

jay-le: we all come off differently to people. so you dont really have to worry that much about it. could have come from some insecure person…nothing wrong with a little confidence. basta wag overdone.

But in a way, I do understand A’s sentiments. Beauty after all, is subjective. A person’s beliefs, background, experiences and judgement shapes his opinion. Say for example, I know someone who thinks that Angelina Jolie  is like the devil herself. She finds the actress ugly, with maga lips and thinks that Jolie is an adulterous fiend. That person unfortunately, was cheated on by her boyfriend of two years around the time when Brad and Jen’s marriage was crumbling before the public eye.

And while I don’t recall imposing my looks on anyone, I do remember what an arduous journey it was for me to reach this place. This place meaning having my self-esteem intact even after being dumped like garbage– this point in my life where I feel better about myself than ever before. Then if that’s what feeling masyadong maganda is, then hell yeah I’m guilty! Read the rest of this entry »
