Cebu Chronicles (Eto Totoo)

March 26, 2007 at 9:40 am (PresentTense)

Now what was I doing in Mactan, Cebu aside from tripping and having that scene included in an inquirer.net blog? Well, let’s just say that the whole point of the Cebu trip was the RAN Online Global Conference (hence the corporate clothes & high heeled shoes in a sand setting) and that I was GAME Magazine’s official correspondent.

While sadly, I didn’t get the R&R that I have to admit I was looking forward to, it was great geeking out and getting a world-exclusive preview of something I’d like to call RAN Lite. Event and conference details as well as notes of the new game will be available in GAME Magazine’s next issue so make sure you buy that.

Now here’s the review of the resort. I also had my fortune told (hehe) on the second day in Cebu. I’ll be posting about that tomorrow since I’m also rushing my articles all of which are due today and ehem, my actual work.

So here are some pictures instead of the resort and no, I won’t be posting any pictures of me in my swimsuit to avoid massive seppuku or to just not simply gross people out. But going back to the main topic, if asked to describe Plantation Bay in one word, for me it’s just simply “beautiful”.

It’s very obvious that a lot of hard work went into making it a luxurious haven for their visitors. Imagine, even at 2AM in the morning, a staff would go to wherever you are with warm fluffy towels after you swim, bring you coffee or coke if you’re too drunk to swim AND fetch you with a roving jeep to take you to your room when you’re tired of walking or you’re too drunk to make it back. Am I going somewhere with the too drunk cases? Hahaha! And the Cebuanos are so nice. They’re all so smiley-faced and polite, plus their tone of voice is so malambing almost beating out the Illongos who IMHO are the romantics of the Philippines.

So okay, back to the resort. Unfortunately, most of the pictures I’ll be posting will be slightly dark because of the Conference thingie took a LOT of time. We barely had enough time to explore Plantation Bay but its okay because media people and guests were all treated to a free massage/spa! Now that’s what I call my extended 7 minutes in heaven. Teehee.

What I also found so cool in Plantation Bay is the fact that you can swim anywhere that has water on it (excluding the fish pond) so since most cottages are found like 5 steps away from the pool or man-made beach, it’s so convenient. And yes, night swimming is allowed. It has all the perks of a beach minus the jellyfish, sea urchins and the high tide. If only I had more time.. *sighs* The last shot is where I enjoyed nigght swimming with the other media people.

wow, nice pics..sarap magrelax dito for sure:)

trivia about this resort: they do not allow educational trips inside the resort to ensure privacy “daw”. So dapat, you have to check in first to see the inside.

Yupyup, even the spa does not allow camera pictures to be taken!

Super okay nga mag-relax dito, your every whim and fancy will be catered to. And its not as crowded as Boracay or Galera. Yun nga lang, tahimik unless you’re going with a really rowdy group.
