Fantastic!

March 30, 2007 at 10:09 pm (Anime, Blogroll, PresentTense)

As I promised PK (AKA Pippin Protacio who has a kick-ass blog who everyone should check out), here is an uber shameless plug of his LJ: Punta po kayo sa blog nya kasi it has everything for everybody (i.e for the guys yung gaming, the girls could enjoy the anime and logical random thoughts thrown in).  So please make sure you check it out kasi hindi na i-pro-proofread ni PK yung anime script ko if wala pa rin mag-comment sa blog niya. And I am so desperate for a proof reader. Hehe. So to read something awesome, either click here or go here: http://gzep.livejournal.com/ ^_^ PK, you happy now???? Read beyond the prologue or face my wrath when you get back here!

Now what anime script am I talking about? I’m actually working on something that will be submitted to Animax Awards (for more details on the contest click here). It’s more like a story for an anime show and it reads exactly like a novel. My work as PK described it, is a shoujo (girl) fantasy. So yeah, there’s a female lead (more like two actually), there’s magic, there’s action and there’s ehem, love. The premise is that of a somewhat alternate modern world and that there is a House/Family who runs the government. The main character aside from being born in the Main House, is also the ultimate proof of her family’s right to power. I titled it “SPECTRUM” since colors will be playing a huge theme in the story.

Actually, I’m still trying to think of a better way to describe it. And yes, if it reeks, I’m ready to start another story from scratch. I’m having second thoughts about actually pushing through with this story because it’s so fantasy-based (Ex. the two main characters have wings, there are people with “special powers”, etc) and yes, its hard to do it without Micchan. Waaah, decisions, decisions! @.@ But heck, I’m a fantasy nut— all my stories usually have an element of fantasy one way or another!

Blog-hopping yesterday morning, I came upon Gbert’s post about a visual personality test. My results indicated that I was a dreamer. The funny thing is, this test also showed results of people who best matched my personality and who the test considered to be good matches for me. PERO BAKIT PURO BABAE SILA? T.T Could this be a premonition of the future of my love-life? *Gasp* Oh well, the whole test gave me another story idea so it’s all good. And yeah, the story idea is way more astig this time around– I haven’t officially started yet but the working title’s “Dream Hunter”.

Anyway, I will be dropping off the face of blogsphere for a couple of days. Today’s my younger brother’s graduation and to commemorate this rather momentuous event, my folks and I are going on a vacation. Yes, I’m a very proud ate of a fresh college graduate. Well of course, I’ll be back in Manila to cover the Otakuzine event on Sunday but still, I’ll miss my blog! T.T Oh well, might as well take the no access to technology thing the perfect time to work on my two fantasy stories. And yes, to reread Terry Goodkind’s Blood of the Fold and Chainfire. ^_^ Now that’s what I call fantastic!

Don’t Give Up On Love

March 28, 2007 at 5:25 pm (Music, PresentTense)

Last time I was in Cebu, I had my fortune told. Madam Luz told me that while I’m very lucky with career and finances and that I would get a lot of opportunities, my love life would be virtually nonexistent.

“Sa 2008 o 2009 ka pa ma-iinlove ulit,” predicted the Madam.

Ouch. Well, my eyes began to flash peso signs however as she moved on to say my ambition is well on its way and that I’ll get a lot of breaks this year. I guess dapat lang na swerte ako this year since it’s the year of my breathren, the Pig.

But of course, the fortune teller wasn’t done yet as she added that apparently, I will be hooking up with a foreigner. When I went, “Uwhaaaat???” she hastily ate her words and said, “Pwedeng Fil-Am din pala.”

Now I have no idea what my love life will be three weeks from now much more that far off into the future. My two weeks of dating abstinence was broken when I went out for coffee with Mr. NY yesterday. While I enjoyed the food very much, I felt as though love has eluded me once more. There with me was a perfectly nice guy but I felt nothing. And that absence of feeling is as lonely as hell.

Looks like I’m better off pursuing my no dating advocacy.

My friend Jay who’s been kind enough to listen to my complaints about love ym’d me about a song he heard while attending a concert in their place. He said it’s perfect for me even as he ordered me to download it off Limewire ASAP and get the lyrics. I listened to Sanctus Real’s “Don’t Give Up” song and I loved it. The beat’s perfect, its inspiring and the music is the type that moves you. So yeah, I may be on the verge of pulling the plug out on the whole concept of love but after all this… maybe I can wait. My dating abstinence thing is ongoing anyway. And I did strike a deal with my uber kawaii single and super nice bestfriend (shameless plugging for PLU’s out there) Gus to keep each other from doing stupid single things like 1. Have a kissing friend and 2. settle or contract a pseudo boyfriend. So yeah, I’m not completely giving up on love yet but I am so not going to look for it… if it finds me, well, good for me then. Here’s the lyrics of the song. Read the rest of this entry »

Cebu Chronicles (Eto Totoo)

March 26, 2007 at 9:40 am (PresentTense)

Now what was I doing in Mactan, Cebu aside from tripping and having that scene included in an inquirer.net blog? Well, let’s just say that the whole point of the Cebu trip was the RAN Online Global Conference (hence the corporate clothes & high heeled shoes in a sand setting) and that I was GAME Magazine’s official correspondent.

While sadly, I didn’t get the R&R that I have to admit I was looking forward to, it was great geeking out and getting a world-exclusive preview of something I’d like to call RAN Lite. Event and conference details as well as notes of the new game will be available in GAME Magazine’s next issue so make sure you buy that.

Now here’s the review of the resort. I also had my fortune told (hehe) on the second day in Cebu. I’ll be posting about that tomorrow since I’m also rushing my articles all of which are due today and ehem, my actual work.

So here are some pictures instead of the resort and no, I won’t be posting any pictures of me in my swimsuit to avoid massive seppuku or to just not simply gross people out. But going back to the main topic, if asked to describe Plantation Bay in one word, for me it’s just simply “beautiful”.

It’s very obvious that a lot of hard work went into making it a luxurious haven for their visitors. Imagine, even at 2AM in the morning, a staff would go to wherever you are with warm fluffy towels after you swim, bring you coffee or coke if you’re too drunk to swim AND fetch you with a roving jeep to take you to your room when you’re tired of walking or you’re too drunk to make it back. Am I going somewhere with the too drunk cases? Hahaha! And the Cebuanos are so nice. They’re all so smiley-faced and polite, plus their tone of voice is so malambing almost beating out the Illongos who IMHO are the romantics of the Philippines.

So okay, back to the resort. Unfortunately, most of the pictures I’ll be posting will be slightly dark because of the Conference thingie took a LOT of time. We barely had enough time to explore Plantation Bay but its okay because media people and guests were all treated to a free massage/spa! Now that’s what I call my extended 7 minutes in heaven. Teehee.   Read the rest of this entry »

Cebu Chronicles

March 23, 2007 at 1:18 pm (Gaming, PresentTense, YouTube Favorites)

What’ s worse than wearing high heeled stilettos while walking in the sand and tripping? Having that moment captured in film (videocam) by Hackenslash’s Joey Alarilla and him making a blog post about it in Inquirer’s blogs. T_T

Well actually, its not that bad now that I think about it, I mean, who cares if the whole free world can see a video of me tripping and dropping a utterly blond line like, “Do not wear stilettos while walking on the beach.” It’s actually a pretty funny moment in hindsight and the video was more about me showing off Plantation Bay than the “trip-up”.

And yes, Cebu’s AMAZING! Plantation Bay is huge, 3 days is not enough to explore the whole resort.  And take note, its completely man-made. So you really have got to hand it to the people running this place, there’s a roving jeepney to take you to different locations, there’s tons of pools to swim in and activities and relaxation spots. Anyway, more on this resort in my next post, have to get back to work! I’ll be blogging more about RAN Online’s Global Conference in my next post. And yeah, this beach outing is definitely all about work.

Check out my funny video about Plantation Bay and yup, it’s also up in Youtube. http://www.inquirerbloggers.net/atplay/2007/03/22/instant-tv-is-gonna-get-you/#more-108

7 Minutes in Heaven

March 21, 2007 at 6:03 pm (Music, PresentTense)

I don’t have an ipod. But since my cellphone is a Sony Walkman series, it can store a ton of songs. I tend to have all the new stuff because I like overhauling my music every now and then and keep only a handful of favorites. My bestfriend, Gus could only shake his head last evening as we had dinner in Recipes at the songs I’ve been obsessing over lately. It’s actually pretty funny how I love emo/alternative/rock songs so much and how he bugs me to get a copy of Dreamgirl’s soundtracks for him. Teehee. ^_^

Right now, I’m enjoying Fall out Boy and My Chemical Romance. I’m Not Okay (I Promise), This Is How I Disappear, The End, 7 Minutes In Heaven, My Heart Is A Dangerous Weapon and This Ain’t A Scene Its An Arms Race are some of my favorites tracks to play.

Here’s the lyrics to 7 Minutes in Heaven by Fall out Boy. I’m leaving for Cebu tomorrow, why do I feel like its the perfect song for me by then?

I’m sleeping my way out of this one
With anyone who will lie down
I’ll be stuck fixated on one star
When the world is crashing down

I keep telling myself
I keep telling myself
I’m not the desperate type
But you’ve got me looking in through blinds

I’m sitting out dances on the wall
Trying to forget everything that isn’t you
I’m not going home alone
Cause I don’t do too well on my own

The only thing worse than not knowing
Is you thinking that I don’t know
I’m having another episode
I just need a stronger dose
