Blogbites: Changes

November 28, 2006 at 9:26 am (PresentTense)

It’s been a long time since my last update and let me tell you, a LOT happened to me–physically, emotionally and mentally. ^_^ Here’s a rundown before I begin another day of work:

Blogbites 1. Dubbing Debut. Michiko and I were invited by Cholo last Wednesday evening for an honest to goodness, will-be-seen-on-television dubbing session. And guess what, our first roles were to be screaming fangirls in the sports anime, Offside!!!! *woot* LOL. It’s somewhat fitting to do that role first because after all, we are hardcore anime screaming fangirls–it just felt a little weird having to scream over the non-bishie character Gorou and we had to change our voices a couple of times to make it seem like there were a lot of screaming fangirls. It was fun! But that night, I guess what surprised Michiko and I the most was the fact that most of the people involved in Tagalized anime dubbing from writing to providing voices to directing were MEN. The two other ladies we saw earlier had left immediately when we came in and we got left behind with 5 (?) guys. Since we already knew Bryan and Cholo, we didn’t find it difficult to be in an all male company and actually, most of the guys were pretty nice and actaully seemed to be quite shy in talking to us. Most of the guys there though were actually pretty goofy, anime loving gamers and it was a fun experience getting to know them. Sidenote: there are dogs in the facility–IIIIIEEEEEE!!!!!! Carlo scared me pretty badly when he imitated a dogs bark and grabbed my calf from behind! *sobs* Read the rest of this entry »

Creative Fever

November 21, 2006 at 9:54 am (PresentTense)

Since last week, I’ve been held in thrall of all these visions I have of anime. I’ve gone back to writing fanfiction because all these plot bunnies refuse to let me sleep at night unless I put these thoughts into form.

I currently have an ongoing fanfic for my latest obsession, Ouran High School Host Club and plot bunnies are demanding that it be in a lemon format. *O.o* And being only mortal and a slave to my own imagination, the lemon fiction has come to be or it’s lime as of the moment. But the great thing is, a week since I’ve put it up, it already has 1099 hits..and 34 reviews—eek!! It’s mind-boggling, to have that many hits and only 34 reviews but then again, readers can be lazy reviewers so I’m definitely demanding at least 20 reviews per chapter next time or no upload! *evil laughter*

Also, after the anime event, Michiko and I had a BRILLIANT idea. To form an all-girl manga team that would be the Pinoy version of CLAMP. It all felt so right and the path felt so clear– Michiko and I managed to come up with an entire manga series in under 2 hours. Ian was our captive audience and even he said that the story was amazing. He did suggestthought that we kill off our characters in the end to which Michiko and I said, “Iieeee!!!”

As much as I would love to post the story right now and upload the images we see in our heads, we’ve decided its best if we secure a copyright first. So until then or until we deem its safe to do so, Sinta, Maja, Dem, Zero, Sky and the Death Squads will have to live in our minds for the time being. So until we find our elusive artist and become the Pinoy Clamp, make mine anime!

Anime Paradise

November 20, 2006 at 11:09 am (Anime, PresentTense)

*Squees* I had no idea that covering HERO TV’s “Hataw Hanep Hero 2″ would reap such wonderful rewards. Last Saturday, no exceptions, was the most fun I’ve ever had, EVER.

My day started early in Eastwood Libis to be a part of the Toie anniversary from 10AM to 11:30AM, Michiko, Ian and I then headed over to Robinson’s Galleria for the launching of SupaSupa, an uber cute 3D first person shooting game. I enjoyed it, especially the PVP room but the server was awful. I kept getting disconnected. Anyway, I hope SupaSupa improves its services because it’s a very enjoyable game to play!

Around 3:30PM, we then proceeded to World Trade Center for the Hero TV event. E-Games, Level-Up and other gaming outfits will be there so originally, the thought was to cover their gaming tournaments and then try our hands out at dubbing. I had little expectations about the rest of the event though–after going to utterly superficial and fake anime events like Animax’s, I was terribly disillusioned about pinoy anime events. It seemed more about the channel than about the actual anime fanservice and it left a horrible aftertaste.

But stepping into Hero TV’s anime bash was much like stepping into a gathering of real otakus. The cosplay wasn’t limited to Dragonball or Slamdunk or even the ephemeral SailorMoon; Dante from Devil May Cry walked around with his sword, Ichigo in bankai form was also in attendance, Inuyasha was around the vicinity while Kikyo wandered around with an unidentifiable Host Club member (Tamaki maybe?), Yuna and Cloud were inseparable while Naruto characters were everywhere. We also saw the goddess Belldandy while Kagome and Read or Die female leads form a clique. There were really a lot of cosplayers and I wasn’t able to pay a whole lot of attention because I was too busy playing E-Games’ newest release, “Audition”. Read the rest of this entry »

Blogbites: The Weight of Remembering

November 17, 2006 at 10:18 am (PresentTense)

Blogbite 1. “Remembering the past

Is not as weightless as I thought it would be

Because a chocolate kiss is more than chocolate,

more than a kiss,

more than a restaurant

more than what it is.” 11/16/06

BLogbite 2. I was in UP with Gus most of the day yesterday. He toured me around and I fell in love with the campus. There was an intangible sense of freedom there and Gus and I had a field day with all the gorgeous “views”. *evil laughter* Ohohohoho!!! Hopefully, I pass the examinations and pursue my law education there. *starts praying really hard* Back then, I just suddenly remembered how much I enjoy Gus’ company. He’s one of the very few people I completely trust with my “true self” and our rapport has always been something I cherish and feel amazed about. Read the rest of this entry »

Let the Games Begin

November 13, 2006 at 1:27 pm (PresentTense)

Despite getting little sleep last Friday (my cousin had the wedding jitters so I talked to her through the night), my first official debut as a beautiful bridesmaid was fantastic!

I felt very beautiful and while I have no idea who Christina Gonzales is (one of the make-up people said I looked like her), the whole evening had a magical feel to it. It could be because two guys that evening lavished attention and praise but I think the  bigger reason why I feel so happy is because I really made Auie happy in her special day. I was sleeping like a rock when I got her thank you call. And it really made me happy even though my mind was foggy with sleep. She’s been such a big part in my life, being the big sister I never had and I’m happy knowing that I made her special day even more special even in little ways.

Anyway, I’ll try to add more pictures to this post but since my friend who scans and uploads my pics are absent so the pictures’ll have to hold for now.

Also, I ran into his family in Greenhills yesterday. I must admit that I was really caught off-guard but it actually felt good to see them after a long time. While I felt a nostalgic pinch in my heart especially after I made beso-beso with his mom, I didn’t feel the urge to start bawling my eyes out. I actually felt happy and relieved to see them and realize once more, that I was able to share my life with such a wonderful family even for just a couple of years. Yes, I miss the old times but I’m very much looking forward to the future. I’m sure there’s someone out there for me who’ll love me the way I deserve to loved. *keeps fingers crossed*
