Countdown
144 hours left before all hope is lost.
I loved the episode of Peach Girl wherein Momo gave Okayasu space to figure out who he really loves–she cried buckets when they parted ways but before she left, I really loved what she told him.
“I understand what you’re going through and because I do, I’m going to wait for you. At the end pf summer if you’ve already chosen and it’s me, I’ll wait for you at the park until 12PM. We’ll go to the beach where we first met. But if you’re five minutes late, I won’t wait for you a minute longer. I’ll give up. And I’ll try my best to forget you.”
What’s the sense of waiting so long and then giving up in the last five minutes? For Momo, those five minutes meant everything–she has always settled being the second or other priority and if in those five minutes, Okayasu didn’t make it, then she knows she’ll never be the number one in his life. And she’ll stop fighting for him and their future together once those five minutes beyond 12PM is up.
The anime made me cry–I still watch the same scene over and over. Momo loved Okayasu so much she even offered to be a sex buddy just so that she could stay by his side–because just being with him even if he didn’t love her the way she loved him, was enough.
Okayasu, the insensitive idiot was late because he prioritized someone else. He loved Momo but he just didn’t think about her feelings enough and he lost her. Because when he was five minutes late, someone else was waiting in the wings.
Here’s that anime episode, watch and weep. It’s so messed up. x_x
